TrinidadWeddings’ Predictions for 2018’s Wedding Trends

TrinidadWeddings.com had dubbed 2017 a “return to the classics” and what we saw was copious use of blush, gold and rose-gold, floral walls and laser-cut invitations, to name a few elements.

For 2018, we predict that it will be the year of the “Modern, Polished Wedding”  Brides and grooms will be giving their signature style a more sophisticated, minimalist or future-forward finish.

Here are some of what TW forecasts for 2018:

Wedding Colours –This year, we will see colours get more saturated; so pastels will take more of a back seat. Pantone’s colour of the year for 2018 is “Ultra-violet” – a nod Pantone says, to “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.” Other trendy colours for 2018 will be: burgundy, mauve, lavender, navy and apricot, coupled with more silver and chrome tones, versus the copper and rose-gold that were popular in 2017 and 2016.

Materials/texture – This year we will see more use of lucite, marble/marbling, 3D paper motifs, acrylic and wooden elements in wedding décor, cakes and even on invitations.

Décor motifs – 2018 will be all about the geometrics, glass terrariums, potted plants, cacti and further use of  green installations like the grass wall and “living” walls of plants and greenery. Hanging floral centerpieces will continue to be trendy.

Fashion – 2018’s brides will delight in fully beaded dresses, pearl embellishments on gowns, touches of black making a comeback on dresses, capes, revealing and interesting backs of gowns and ruffles galore!

HIS & HER wedding favours – Edible wedding favours remain a top contender but this year we will see them even more personalized, with favours for “her” – e.g. cashews and favours for “him” – e.g. almonds, or using different coffees, such as dark roast for “him” and French vanilla for ‘her

Food & beverage: This year, we will see the “grazing table” or smorgasbord, featuring anything from: open-faced sandwiches, an assortment of cheeses, fruit, olives, crackers or other finger food. We will also see more focus on farm to table food options for weddings, Korean-inspired dishes, fermented foods, the use of vegetables from root to shoot, craft beer and the use of sweet/savoury salts – such as bacon salt and chocolate caramel salt.
