The Grooms Room

Grooms’ fashion for 2015

It seems that the era of the “fashion-shy” groom is over. More and more guys seem interested in choosing their wedding attire now than the grooms of yesteryear. Modern grooms are not to be side-lined; since many of them are determined to express their own style and infuse their hobbies (e.g. think of quirky cufflinks in sports-themed motifs) into their fashion choices.

However, more conservative grooms can still turn heads in a traditional tux, textured white shirt (for some interest!) and a black bowtie. A distinguished and classic look that will never go out of style!
Here are some of the trendier options appearing for grooms this year:

Colours and prints – Tan, grey, charcoal and navy will be seen this year. Trendier grooms will opt for Prince of Wales check, dark brown or camel-coloured tweed, burgundy, royal blue or slate-blue suits. Design houses such as Dunhill and Bottega Veneta even did blush pink jacket options for Spring/Summer 2015! Fashion-forward grooms would be also pleased to know that this year, Dolce and Gabbana and Vivienne Westwood have also done several printed suits – in gingham, pin-stripe and polka-dot.

Style and cut – 2015 has seen a leaning towards the 1970’s-inspired suit, featuring boot cut trousers and patterned shirts paired with wider ties. Three –piece suits (jacket, waistcoat and trousers) are also making a comeback, as a dapper option.

English-style – Fashion reminiscent of the “British gentleman” is going to be a popular look for grooms this year. Bowties, Ascot ties, hats, suspenders, cufflinks and patterned pocket squares or socks (think geometric or floral prints) are stylish options that can work well on most grooms.
