Kevon & Antonia

Ten weeks and loads of excitement! That’s precisely how we would describe the journey to our big day. After making the big announcement to close family and friends we quickly sprang into action with only 10 weeks to plan.

We really just wanted to spend the best weekend ever with ‘our people’ so we decided on an intimate Tobago wedding with lots of character, a little bit of charm and some beautiful details. I don’t know what was more memorable, the weekend we spent with our friends and family leading up to the big day or the wedding day itself. Nevertheless, it was undoubtedly an experience to remember.

Our wedding was totally DIY. From the invitations, to the center pieces, the bouquets, the party favors and the table seating inspired by our dogs. My mom was our wedding planner, my grandma, our florist, Kevon did most of the design and décor elements and my dad and siblings were always on stand- by for anything that we needed as we drew closer to our wedding day.

When we arrived in Tobago on Friday, the energy was amazing, so peaceful, so festive! We soaked up the salty beaches during the day and spent the nights playing games, sharing stories, pouring drinks and doing a bit of wedding prep each day. It was so breath taking to see everything come together the morning before, as it was truly a group effort. Whether it was putting up the welcome sign at 1am the night before or wrapping twine around the glass bottles with the morning sun gently reflecting off of them and smelling the precious baby’s breath as we cut them to just the right height before resting them in their vases or organizing the chairs to perfection, everyone pitched had a part to play. And although there was a lot of going on, we felt so at ease, so peaceful, so happy.

When the day finally arrived the music from the band lifted the entire atmosphere. Walking down the aisle with my parents on either side of me, hearing the crashing of the waves crashing over the hill and seeing my best guy waiting for me at the end of the aisle of me was so surreal. We hugged, said our vows and sealed the ceremony with a kiss. After that, the rest was history!

There was lots of dancing, lots of laughter, lots of food and a few tears. At the end of it all we all put on our swimsuits and headed straight to the pool. It was definitely not just the best day of our lives but the best weekend of our lives!
