Where are they now? Tammy & Michael

How time flies!  We featured Tammy and Michael, years ago in our TW Wed-Zine Magazine
We caught up with them after their 10 year vow renewal celebration and here’s what they had to say:
TW: Reflecting on your wedding day a decade ago, what moment still brings a smile to your face?
Tammy: Hard to choose just one! But let’s say that moment when we were jumping for our most iconic wedding pic!

I smile every time I think about it and thankfully I have the photo! It was a lot of laughter trying to get the right shot, and as you know, the balloon theme was from the movie “Up”….. where a famous phrase associated with said movie is “adventure awaits” So…..to sound philosophical and meaningful, if you look at marriage… it’s an adventure every day… sometimes fun, sometimes boring, sometimes scary, but always something new, and most times something you can learn from.  However,  the phrase “adventure awaits” is also how we try to keep our marriage… filled with adventures and new experiences …whether it be right here in Trinidad, trying a new and exotic food, travel within the region, or beyond, or even trying to new class. We always try to have some sort of new adventure annually at least! Exploring new grounds together is definitely something positive for our relationship.
TW: Over the past 10 years, what has been the most surprising lesson you’ve learned about marriage, and how has it strengthened your relationship?
Tammy: This is a tricky one! Surprisingly we have realized that marriage IS a bed of roses contrary to popular believe. I explained this at our recent ten year vow renewal party…To get the flowers to bloom you have to accept the thorns…. And once you get the hang of caring for the plant …. Thorns included….. your roses will bloom! It’s all about learning how to deal with the rough times, keep on trying…keep on working at it…..you’ll get better at it, and once you keep at it…..your marriage will bloom.
TW: If you could offer one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding today, drawing from your own experiences, what would it be?
Tammy: I’m a “Monica” so I absolutely loved planning my wedding. However, I know that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Create a mood board, or a folder on Pinterest. Think about what you would want your wedding to be, don’t think about trends, try to dig deep and see what “timeless” looks like to you…..in terms of wedding dress, decor etc.
