Our Story

“We both met in High School and faced many challenges including people telling us that we were too young to understand love and we would not make it, on July 9th, 2016 we proved them wrong. Telling you that I married my best friend may sound clichéd but from the bottom of my heart I truly did and I know for a fact he feels the same way. We worked hard and prayed for our relationship and always remembered to put God first in everything that we did. We have accomplished a lot and we are continuing to strive for all our dreams.

September 9, 2016 marked our “10 year anniversary” ofthe day we started our relationship and it was  also the date that Damian proposed. While I was getting ready for our dinner, I turned around and there he was on one knee, playing  Jason Derulo’s song “Marry Me.”

We got married on July 9, 2016 with a ceremony at the Riverside New Testament Church in Caparo followed by a reception at the Jerningham Community Centre. After the ceremony, we did our photo-shoot at the Sevilla compound in Pt. Lisas, Couva.

During the reception we played a game called “Who knows who?” where we both had one side of each other’s shoe (each shoe representing us individually) and we were asked questions with our backs against each other. This had our guests really engaged! Guests also signed a photo frame of us and were invited to take a portrait with us at the end of the reception. We will use these in the thank you cards that will be sent to them via mail.

On our wedding  day, we made a vow that for every anniversary, we would dance to our wedding song and release a Chinese lantern at the very location we said “I do.” – Rhea
