A Covid wedding, featuring 10 guests!

Simone & Christopher

August 29th 2020

Chris and Simone lived eight houses down the street from each other all their lives but it took an online dating app to bring them together. They met four years ago, went on their first date, but it wasn’t instant love – at least for Simone anyway!

Apparently years before, Chris had seen Simone in passing and had always admired her but never took it further. Simone thought of him more as a friend initially, especially after the first date didn’t go so well.

After discussions with her mom she decided to give him a second look. She decided to meet up with Chris a second time, when he was more relaxed and not under the pressure of a date. This time, he was charming and won Simone over. It has been love ever since.

After almost three years of dating, Chris proposed. The wedding was not planned as yet but by then the Covid 19 pandemic had hit Trinidad. As a tradition, the couple usually takes an annual trip to Tobago, for Chris’ birthday so, they decided to have a small intimate wedding there.

After all the preparations were made, the “Covid lockdown” resumed for the second wave, so the Tobago wedding had to be cancelled. With that disappointment, they decided to try for the same initial date but have the wedding in their garage, at the family home instead.

Simone has a son Sage, from a previous marriage and wanted to make this special for him, as this would be his first wedding he had ever attended. The wedding was organised in only five 5 days. They wanted it to be intimate, classy, budget-friendly and filled with love.

It was a beautiful ceremony with those most special to them, and with their neighbours cheering them on from across the street, together with a “drive by” parade of family to congratulate them (because of social distancing requirements.) The day was perfect!
